Color Voter ID Card.

How to register for a Color Voter ID Card.

The Voter ID Cards issued by the Election Commission are among the most boring-looking documents that you’ll ever own. A single card in black and white with no real character to it is to be used as the most powerful tool in our arsenal to exercise our democratic rights? That didn’t sit quite right with someone in the Election Commission, as there is a new colour Voter ID Card that’s available to everyone.
A Voter ID Card is legally recognized document that acts as a proof of identity, age, and address, as it contains the following information:
  • Name.
  • Photograph.
  • Date of birth.
  • Address.
  • Applicant’s father’s name.

You can use this document to identify yourself, register for a SIM card, apply for passports, confirm your age at bars and movie theatres, etc. in addition to using it for its primary purpose which is to cast votes for Members of Parliament (MP) and Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLA).
